Welcome: Sarah Kate Goss

June 25th, 2008

Our little Princess has arrived!

Sarah Kate Goss was born on Monday 23rd June, just before lunch, at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital, in London. She weighed in at a very healthy 7 pounds 15 ounces. A right little porker!

Kate and Sarah are doing really well. Here are some photos of the beautiful little girl.

It’s a waiting game

June 19th, 2008

Will she arrive today? Tonight? Tomorrow?

What if I don’t make it in time? What if the traffic is crap?

Our little Princess is due to be born any moment now - our Doctor said early last week that she was ready then!

Tick, tock! Tick, tock!

Come on Princess! Daddy wants to play!

(Yes, I’m excited!) :-)

Test of the P3C in race conditions

April 29th, 2008

On Saturday, Ful-On Tri held their inaugural Duathlon event, at the MOD Chertsey Test Track.

Since the race was only a few days after a hard week of training in Lanzarote, this was merely a training run for me, so was a great chance to get the P3C out and up to speed for a bit of race practice.

The run featured the infamous 1-in-4 incline, previously used to test tanks. This was scaled twice in each run leg, and was quite an effort after the 4th go! I took the run VERY easy and steady. I WALKED transition, which probably added a few minutes to my bike split, easily.

The bike was around the banked test track, with a deviation mid-way up through a windy, hilly section, before heading back out onto the banked track again. This was a perfect circuit to test out the speed of the P3C on the flat, fast sections, as well as how it handles the twisty stuff. All in all, it was brilliant, and after the 1st lap, I was able to stay on the aero bars pretty much the entire lap - including the windy, hilly bits. The bike was exceptionally fast!

Here are a few snaps of yours truly in action.

The hard work is starting to show

April 29th, 2008

Ful-On Tri Club Training Camp - Lanzarote After a tough week of training in Lanzarote (see previous post below) I am really starting to see the benefits of the hard training that I have been putting in over the last few months.

I competed in a Sprint Distance Triathlon at Club La Santa on the Wednesday of the training camp, and for the first time, I wasn’t anywhere near the back of the field coming out of the water. I was pretty strong on the bike, and then kept a nice pace in the run. I ended up finishing about 12th in the Men - 15th overall. MUCH further up than I used to be!

What do I need to work on?

* Running off the bike - PJ has recruited me to his Sunday morning run sessions.
* Swim - still needs more work to get up towards the pointy end of the field.
* Bike - Need to get my climbing legs back. Need to continue to work on longer sustained effort sessions.

Here are a few photos of me in action in Lanzarote:

A big huge THANKS to Dean at TCR in Melbourne, Australia for sending me some of his awesome gear. It was brilliant to wear, and many compliments were received regarding how great it looked. Thanks Mate!

Taking it up a level

April 16th, 2008

Tomorrow, I am off to Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, for a week of training, with the Ful-On Tri Club.

The week is being run, and coached by Richard Hobson - 10 years as a pro, 5 times National Champion, Olympic coach to 2 athletes, former performance coach for the BTF & head coach at Bath Triathlon Performance Centre, and age group coach to European and World Age Group qualifiers.

The location will be Club la Santa - the number one sports and active holiday resort in the world, and the ideal location for a Triathlon Training camp.

Check out the program for the week here: Ful-On Tri Club Training Camp - Lanzarote

So, a week of sun (and pain) on the way! Beats working!

Cervelo P3C

December 3rd, 2007

Cervelo P3CBreathtaking!!

I swung a leg over my new steed yesterday for a quick spin around Richmond Park - one of my local rides. When I decided to buy this bike, I told myself that I would only ride it in fair weather….well it was pissing down and blowing a gale. I wasn’t going to let that stop me getting out on this amazing new machine!

Not being used to aero bars, and the fact that it was jolly windy, I took my time with using them. When I did though, and really would the bike up, this thing is damn fast!! Whoa! I couldn’t believe the ease at which I could maintain a cracking pace up a slight rise along one side of Richmond Park! WOW!

Stay tuned for some more gushing over the next few weeks as I get more time on my new speed machine!
