Okay…Gossy needs a new suit. The old one (hand made specifically for yours truly by a highly skilled Singaporean) has served me VERY well, but it is time to be replaced.

Enter “Gossy Dimensions”….

Gossy has a small waist. Gossy has chunky thighs.

Small waist + chunky thighs = clothes shopping nighmares!!

Here is the usual deal when Gossy goes shopping for jeans, for example:

* Walk into trendy High Street store
* Grab a pairs of jeans in roughly my waist size
* Struggle in dressing room to get jeans over aforementioned chunky thighs
* Send Mrs Gossy off to get next size up
* Try next size up and struggle to stop them from falling back down, as I could put a pillow on my belly and still have room in the waist
* Gossy gives up and decides he can’t be bothered with jeans shopping any more, and heads off for a coffee

So, back to the Suit situation. Take the above scenario for jeans, and add a jacket - utter madness!

I find a suit that I like the look of, and ask the assistant if I can try it on. They grab what they think is my size jacket, and are usually pretty accurate. The arms are always too long, but nothing that a little tailoring can’t fix. Great….now for the pants!

Suit pants are normally a little more forgiving than jeans as far as fit is concerned, however the chunky thigh issue is still in attendance! Okay - the pair of pants that is hanging with the jacket - they are tight on the chunky thighs. Next size up thanks Mrs Gossy. These are great - I’ll take the jacket with this pair of larger size pants.

“I’m sorry Sir, we can’t swap the pants in our suits.”

ARGH!!

Now I know why I jumped at the chance to get a suit made in Singapore!!

Does anybody know of a place in London that sells decent quality suits, that will mix ‘n’ match the pants? Or a reasonably priced suit maker in London that will make the suit to “Gossy Dimensions?”

Maybe I should just pretend to be a Muslim woman, and wear a burqa! Or, try not to fight the symptoms of the Heathrow Injection, and let the waist and belly grow to fit the next size up!
