Racing!
It has been quite a few years since I last raced my bike in a cycling race. Well, I’m back!
Last night I made the treck out to the Hillingdon Circuit, in Hayes - west of London. They have a closed road circuit, about 0.93 miles in length, and about 6m wide.
There were about 60 riders in my category, which was quite a lot for the size of the road/circuit. One thing that is different with racing here in the UK, compared to back in Australia: if you cut into somebody’s line whilst cornering, you will get a smack in the chops! Not so here. They are all very polite about it.
I guess that is why the Britons are doing so incredibly well on the Professional Cycling scene! (NOT!)
Anyway, I finished the race, even with the very small amount of training that I have been doing.
I think I will do quite a few more of these races, run each Tuesday evening until August.
Who knows, I may even belt a Pom for cutting into my line!
