Autumn is well on its way

Friday, August 31st, 2007

The crappy weather in London this Summer was confirmed today. Travelling to work this morning, the newspaper had some statistics regarding the weather this summer - the wettest on record!

Metro Newspaper Article

Summer last year had 20 days over 30 degs, with the max being roughly 36 degs. This year, there was only one, that went to a mighty high of 30.3 degs!

Now we sort of know why people complain about London’s crappy weather!

And walking outside today, we are starting to see leaves on the ground, so Autumn is well on its way!

Let’s hope “leaves on the tracks” are not an excuse for train delays again this year, or that “the wrong kind of snow” doesn’t debilitate the transport network again!

Enjoy your 26 deg winter days down there in Sunny Melbourne!

Chiswick Zoo!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

After spending WAY too long apart, the Goss family zoo has been re-united!

Our fluffy Ragdoll cat Benny, and our two crazy Labradors Louis & Sam have finally arrived in the UK.

Kate went out to pick them up from the Animal Reception Centre at Heathrow yesterday morning, where they had been processed on their arrival into the country. Coming from Australia, this was a very smooth, and easy process.

They came out looking very healthy, and happy to be out of their crates!

Ever since they have been here with us, Matty has been following Benny around the house, much to Benny’s disgust! He kisses him, and cuddles him, and pats him, and pulls his tail, and goes “shhh shhh shhh” when he thinks Benny is sleeping, and generally follows him around the house, non-stop! Matty has taken to crawling around the house again, following Benny wherever he goes. It looks like these two are going to become great little buddies.

Louis and Sam have really settled down since we were in Australia last. They are not as crazy and hypo as they once were. They are brilliant with Matty, treating him really gently and cautiously. They are in great condition, which is going to be a task to maintain, given their relatively small surroundings. We are planning to get them out of the house at least twice a day. I am going to start running again, which should get quite a lot of energy out of them - and me!

Anyway, I’ll get some happy snaps up on here shortly showing the happy Gossy family all back together again!

Ciao

It’s been a long time between drinks

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Well, I haven’t written anything on my site for quite a while now - apologies for that.

Since my last post, on my birthday, back in May, we have bought a lovely home in London, and have settled ourselves in. It’s in a really nice part of town, close to everything we need, and is very quiet - perfect to retreat from the rat race that is London. I’ll get a few photos up shortly for those of you scattered around the world to check it out.

le Tour de France has been and gone for another year, and what an interesting installment in its curious history this year was! I was lucky enough to go across to watch one stage. I travelled to Geneva on a Friday night, and rode the bike down into France, and up the Col de la Columbiere (Cat 1) to see the circus go through. What an amazing experience! Again - some photos to follow soon.

We’ve had visitors galore over the past few months, which has been nice. The lovely Sandra, Chris (Kim’s now Fiancee), Mick, Pat & Peter, Dan & Kristie, and Mick’s good friend Katie. Everybody please remember that you are all welcome to come and visit any time!

Work is going really well for Kate and I - the major reason for us staying on longer in the UK.

Matty is really growing up, and is fast approaching the big number 2! He appears to have gotten Kate’s genes relating to talking (he never stops) and got my genes for being active (he never stops running around, kicking balls, riding bikes, jumping around, go go go!). Once more, stay tuned for more photos of the little rascal soon.

A major event occured a few weeks ago in the UK - severe flooding. Kate and Matty got stuck in the middle of it, out in the Cottswalds, having to sleep in the car overnight in the middle of nowhere. I was stuck in London without a house key, so unfortunately had to resort to staying at the Langham Hotel! That cut short our planned weekend to the Cottswalds, but we were lucky in the scheme of things, with many people less fortunate losing their homes, and entire communities were severely affected.
I hope everybody around the world are well. Speak to you soon.

Nath :-)
