The leaves are going yellow, and falling to the ground.
The days are getting much shorter.
It is getting quite chilly of an evening.
The drizzle has started.
Winter in London is on its way.
Not happy!

The Cats - the footy (AFL) team I have been following all of my life (Geelong) - is 2 wins away from raising the AFL Premiership Cup for the first time since 1963.
After absolutely trouncing the Roos (Nth Melbourne) last week, they enjoyed a well deserved week off, whilst the lower ranked sides battled it out in the semi finals.
The Pies (Collingwood) have just beaten the Eagles (West Coast) in extra time, to get them into the Preliminary final against the Mighty Cats.
All of my inlaws are Collingwood supporters, so this is going to be FUN!!

Disco Dave just pointed me to a journal entry in the diary for the Charlottesville High School Orchestra European Tour way back in 1998.
This was the year that I, along with Dave, and some great friends travelled to Vienna, Austria to compete in the 27th International Youth Music Festival - all as members of the Chamber Strings of Melbourne.
Check out the diary here: CHS Orchestra European Tour Diary 1998
Well, the diary entry gives us a pretty awesome write-up! Very proud!
Enjoy….

It has been on the cards for a while now, but we have finally taken the plunge, and we are all booked in to do our CBT training to get our Motorcycle licence here in the UK, with the aim of buying a Vespa to commute to work and get out and about around London.

Kate is doing her course tomorrow, whilst I have to wait a few weeks for my UK licence to arrive in the post.
Vespa shopping will start right away. We are thinking of one of these - Vespa LX 125.
Very exciting!! :-)

- Metronet win contract to run, maintain and upgrade most of the London tube network.
- Metronet are rubbish and lag years behind in the upgrade schedule.
- Metronet go millions of pounds over budget.
- Metronet cause regular delays throughout the tube network.
- Metronet go bust (DUH!).
- Metronet staff threaten 72 hour strike unless their pay/pensions are guaranteed.
- Metronet Pay/Pensions are guaranteed by Mayor Ken Livingston.
- Metronet staff STILL undertake strike, throwing London into chaos.
The tube is up the creek (see image in this post). The buses are under ridiculous strain. There are way too many cars in the city today.
Cycling to work was the only option, and looks like it will be for a few more days.
Metronet Monkeys!

The crappy weather in London this Summer was confirmed today. Travelling to work this morning, the newspaper had some statistics regarding the weather this summer - the wettest on record!
Metro Newspaper Article
Summer last year had 20 days over 30 degs, with the max being roughly 36 degs. This year, there was only one, that went to a mighty high of 30.3 degs!
Now we sort of know why people complain about London’s crappy weather!
And walking outside today, we are starting to see leaves on the ground, so Autumn is well on its way!
Let’s hope “leaves on the tracks” are not an excuse for train delays again this year, or that “the wrong kind of snow” doesn’t debilitate the transport network again!
Enjoy your 26 deg winter days down there in Sunny Melbourne!

After spending WAY too long apart, the Goss family zoo has been re-united!
Our fluffy Ragdoll cat Benny, and our two crazy Labradors Louis & Sam have finally arrived in the UK.
Kate went out to pick them up from the Animal Reception Centre at Heathrow yesterday morning, where they had been processed on their arrival into the country. Coming from Australia, this was a very smooth, and easy process.
They came out looking very healthy, and happy to be out of their crates!
Ever since they have been here with us, Matty has been following Benny around the house, much to Benny’s disgust! He kisses him, and cuddles him, and pats him, and pulls his tail, and goes “shhh shhh shhh” when he thinks Benny is sleeping, and generally follows him around the house, non-stop! Matty has taken to crawling around the house again, following Benny wherever he goes. It looks like these two are going to become great little buddies.
Louis and Sam have really settled down since we were in Australia last. They are not as crazy and hypo as they once were. They are brilliant with Matty, treating him really gently and cautiously. They are in great condition, which is going to be a task to maintain, given their relatively small surroundings. We are planning to get them out of the house at least twice a day. I am going to start running again, which should get quite a lot of energy out of them - and me!
Anyway, I’ll get some happy snaps up on here shortly showing the happy Gossy family all back together again!
Ciao
